■Introduction of the Kiinagashima commerce and industry association
On November 23rd, 1955, the “Nagashima commerce and industry association“ was founded voluntarily with 60 members. The first chairperson was Mr. Yoshinosuke Oonishi, who was an administrator in the economy/commercial and industry section in the Nagashima town office.
On November 8th, 1960, a general assembly of the Kiinagashima commerce and industry association was held in accordance with “Commerce and Industry Association law” established on May 20th, 1960. At the time, the office was in the Kiinagashima agricultural cooperatives. On December 12th, 1960, the Kiinagashima commerce and industry association was authorized.
Initially there were 277 members. Mr. Rikichi Nakagawa was appointed as the first chairperson. Subsequently, 6 chairpersons assumed the position. The scale of business expanded and the number of officers increased in line with the increase in members year by year.
The Kiinagashima commerce and industry has been awarded as an excellent commerce and industry association from the chief of Nagoya bureaus of international trade and industry in 1988, and the chief of the small and medium enterprise agency in 2004. In 1972, the Kiinagashima commerce and industry association purchased and renovated the Chukyo bank building in Kiinagashima. On December 1978, the long planned Kiinagashima commerce and industry association center was completed.
In 1969, the young entrepreneurs’ group was established and the women’ group was launched in 1981. Both groups have been very active promoting enterprise in Kiinagashima.
■Introduction of the Miyama commerce and industry association
The commerce and industry association is believed to have started in the middle of the Meiji period by local entrepreneurs deeply connected to local economies and culture no matter what size, category or kind of business. In Miyama-town, we used to have voluntary organizations in each industry to encourage information transfer and innovation. As a result of the introduction of the Commerce and industry association law, a lot of commerce and industry associations were established across Japan. In Miyama-town, momentum toward the establishment of an association increased in the summer of 1960. After a meeting in October 1960, the Miyama commerce and industry association was established with 460 members on November 14th, 1960. At the beginning, an office and staff was provided by town office. In 1962, Mr. Rinbei Nonaka was appointed as successor to Mr. Yasushi Uemura, the first chairperson who had relocated to his residence to Tokyo. Mr. Rinbei Nonaka made great efforts to expand and develop the association together with all the officers and members. According with the expansion of the association, the number of officers increased to 8 and Miyama-town commerce and industry association hall was completed in 1980, its 20th anniversary. We used this event to expand and enhance our activities to serve the local community.
